Anesthesiology
Anesthesiologists are specially trained
physicians who plan, administer, and monitor the anesthetic
drugs that “put you to sleep” during surgery.
For anesthesiology services, Knox Orthopaedics utilizes
the active staff anesthesiologists at Baxter Regional
Medical Center when the surgeries are performed at
BRMC.
When outpatient surgeries are performed at Mountain
Home Surgery Center, most procedures are performed
with “local” anesthetic, rather than general anesthesia that would “put
you to sleep.” If anesthesiology services are
needed for an outpatient procedure, a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist from the Mountain
Home Surgery Center staff provides those services.
