Dr.
Knox Attends International Conference
Dr. Thomas E. Knox, an orthopaedic
surgeon in Mountain Home for more than 20 years, attended
the Fourth International Shoulder Course 2006 in Villach,
Austria. Included was a three-day scientific program,
a technical exhibition, and workshops.
The biennial event was organized by the ISC Executive
Committee, chaired by Georg Lajtai of Austria, with
two additional members from Austria and one from Switzerland.
The medical faculty for the sessions included 30 orthopaedic
surgeons from seven nations. Physicians attending the
sessions receive 20 hours of continuing medical education
in orthopaedic surgery.
Dr. Knox said one of the most
useful parts of the course was "the international perspective to problems
we treat every day." A daylong session about rotator
cuff treatment was the most informative of the sessions
offered during the scientific program, Dr. Knox added.
As the senior surgeon at Regional Orthopaedic Health
Care and its founder, Dr. Knox said continuing medical
education is vital in the field of orthopaedic surgery,
due to advances in materials, equipment, and techniques.
