Dear Baxter Regional Staff:
I wish to extend a warm thank you to all the members
of your staff who worked to make my recent unexpected
stay at your facility as pleasant as was possible.
My stay resulted from a broken ankle I acquired while
falling.
I was admitted to the Emergency Room and given initial
treatment to stabilize my injury. The only name I remember,
from all those who came and went, was a gentleman named
Mike. However, this is in no way meant to detract from
all the various nice people who quickly and professionally
worked to make me as comfortable as possible and to
implement my actual formal admission. During this time,
one of the Emergency Room doctors came in and, after
appropriate sedation, performed an initial setting
of the bones in my ankle. The quick and pleasant manner
in which this was accomplished deserves a sincere thank
you.
I was moved to 3 West in your facility where I spent
the next three days. Names I remember during this period
are nurses Tasha, Tammy, Debbie, Sarah, and Kim. The
nurse assistants I remember are Sheryl, Roberta and
Gladys - there were others and I apologize for not
remembering their names. Everyone who participated
in my care was patient, caring, concerned, and most
professional.
On Wednesday afternoon I was transferred to the Operating
Room area for the actual repair to my leg. The Pre-Op
nurse who came and moved me there was a male nurse
by the name of Ralph. The comments and dialogue he
provided during and after the move made for an interesting
diversion from the coming operation. Give him my thanks
for providing a diversion from the pending surgery.
While in Pre-Op, I met the scrub nurse and the anesthesiologist.
I don't remember either of their names but both appeared
concerned for my welfare and determined to do their
jobs well. Extend my thanks to both of them.
There was a total of three physical therapists who
stopped by Thursday and Friday to assist me in learning
how to safely move around using both a walker and crutches.
Without their help and instruction, I would have had
more difficulty in adapting to the use of both. A thank
you goes to them for their care and assistance in keeping
me safer while dealing with my new limitations.
Finally, thanks goes to Dr. Knox. When I finally got
to meet him, I fully understood why he had been recommended.
He is as pleasant and professional as the best of physicians
I have encountered. |
