Dr. Knox Studies Advanced Shoulder Surgery at Mayo Clinic

Dr. Thomas E. Knox, an orthopaedic surgeon, completed a course at the Mayo Clinic in May concerning advanced techniques for shoulder surgery. “Advanced Techniques in Shoulder Arthroscopy, Arthroplasty, and Fractures” was held at the Mayo Clinic’s Surgical Skills Laboratory in Rochester, Minn. Dr. Knox received 13.5 credits in Continuing Medical Education for the two-day course.

The faculty focused upon shoulder arthritis, particularly reverse shoulder arthroplasty for chronic, irreparable rotator cuff tear problems. His lab instructor was Dr. Daniel Bone of Nancy, France. As a result of this course, Dr. Knox will now offer reverse shoulder arthroplasty for his patients.

Fractures of the clavicle, humerus, and scapula were covered in the second-day sessions. The course also included panel discussions, live video demonstrations, and surgical skills workshops.

Dr. Knox has practiced in Mountain Home since 1983 and is board certified by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. His practice is Knox Orthopaedics, at 3 Medical Plaza. He is a member of the AAOS and the Arthroscopy Association of North America and served on the AANA bylaws committee through 2008. For more information, call (870) 424-3400 or 1-800-621-3218.
