Knox Orthopedics' team of board-certified orthopaedic surgeons provides both inpatient and outpatient orthopaedic surgical services.
Knox Orthopaedics uses the surgical facilities of Mountain Home Surgery Center, an outpatient surgery center, as well as Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, for surgical procedures. Initial postoperative checkups are scheduled through the hospital's recovery room if the procedure was performed at the hospital, and further checkups, including rehabilitation therapy, are scheduled through our office. All postoperative checkups following outpatient surgery are scheduled through our office.
Outpatient Surgery
Knox Orthopaedics uses the facilities of either the Mountain Home Surgery Center (located adjacent to Ozark Eye Center) or Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home for orthopaedic outpatient surgeries. Outpatient surgeries are performed in one day and do not require an overnight stay in a hospital. Some of the most common types of outpatient orthopaedic surgeries include knee scopes, endoscopic or open carpal tunnel releases, hardware removals, trigger finger releases, rotator cuff repair, and repair of hand injuries.
Mountain Home Surgery Center is a Medicare approved facility and has been a state certified ASC (Ambulatory Surgery Center) since 1990. State of the art operating room systems include a high definition camera system that produces images of television broadcast quality. The Mountain Home Surgery Center provides cost-effective services with convenient scheduling to benefit both patient and surgeon. In addition, the environment is less stressful than what many hospitals can offer. The Mountain Home Surgery Center has operating rooms fully equipped for orthopaedic procedures with the latest and most modern arthroscopy and orthopaedic surgery equipment in the region. It is located near Knox Orthopaedics at 360 Hwy. 5 North in Mountain Home.
Benefits of Outpatient Surgery:
Inpatient Surgery
Inpatient surgeries require the patient to stay at least one night in the hospital. As an inpatient, you have convenient access to a full-time nursing staff and many other medical services. Some of the most common inpatient orthopaedic surgeries performed include total knee, hip, and shoulder replacements; and pinning fractures of the wrist, arm, foot, ankle, leg and hip.
Baxter Regional Medical Center's modern surgical facilities ensure that your health will be closely monitored before, during, and after surgery. Rest assured that highly trained doctors, perioperative nurses, and others will attend to both your emotional and physical needs.
Anesthesia
Anesthesiologists are specially trained physicians who plan, administer, and monitor the anesthetic drugs that "put you to sleep" during surgery. For this service, Knox Orthopaedics utilizes the active staff anesthesiologists at Baxter Regional Medical Center when the surgeries are performed at BRMC.
When outpatient surgeries are performed at Mountain Home Surgery Center, most procedures are performed with "local" anesthetic, rather than general anesthesia that would "put you to sleep." If anesthetic services are needed for an outpatient procedure, a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist from the Mountain Home Surgery Center staff provides those services.
